Wine
Garagiste Tuerong Chardonnay is grown in the Robinson Vineyard at Tuerong on the Mornington Peninsula. This north facing site is harvested earlier than the Merricks Grove Vineyard.
To highlight the influence of the site on the final taste, the winery uses the same winemaking techniques for its Tuerong Chardonnay as its sibling Merricks Chardonnay. You will taste the difference when you try them!
Hand harvested, hand sorted and whole bunch pressed. Natural fermentation takes place on solids in 500 litre French oak puncheons. There is partial malolactic fermentation.
The wine is matured in oak on lees for 12 months before bottling, without fining or filtration.
Pale straw, Garagiste Tuerong Chardonnay has bright citrus and stone fruit flavours, persistent acidity and a long driving finish. Cellaring potential is seven years.
